“Deadma
Walking” is one of the eight entries to the 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival
(MMFF). It is a comedy-drama musical film written by Eric Cabahug and directed
by Julius Alfonso.
In
2016, the “Deadma Walking” screenplay won second prize of the Carlos Palanca Memorial
Awards for Literature. The story revolves around John Samson (Joross Gamboa), an openly gay CEO of a public relations film and other businesses.
Cancer-stricken and terminally ill, John fakes his own death with the help of his best friend Mark Caramat (Edgar Allan Guzman), a sales representative and a part-time theater actor who is a closeted gay. With Mark, John attends his own funeral to hear his friends’ eulogies for him.
For his role as Mark, Guzman won Best Supporting Actor at the 2017 MMFF Gabi ng Parangal (Awards Night) on December 27, 2017, which was held at the KIA Theatre in Quezon City, Metro Manila. It is his third acting award.
Guzman won Best Actor at the 2011 Cinemalaya Film Festival and at the 2012 Golden Screen Awards for his role as a virgin college student in the romantic sex-comedy film “Ligo Na U, Lapit Na Me” (“Take a Shower Now, I’m Almost There”). It is a film adaptation of Eros S. Atalia’s novel of the same name.
Several celebrities made cameo appearances in "Deadma Walking" including directors Joel Lamangan and Marlon Rivera. Here is a list of actors who joined Guzman and Gamboa in the film:
