After its debut at the 30th Tokyo International Film Festival, “Ang Larawan” (“The Portrait”) was released as one of the eight 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) movies on December 25, 2017. It was produced by Culturtain Musicat Productions and distributed by Solar Pictures.

Directed by Loy Arcenas, “Ang Larawan” was based on “Ang Larawan the Musical,” the 1997 stage play adaptation of the Philippines’ National Artist Nick Joaquin’s play “A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino.” Here is a list of the female members of the cast:

The story of “Ang Larawan” is set in Intramuros before World War II. It revolves around Ampil and Alejandro’s characters, two spinster sisters who take a boarder named Tony Javier (Paolo Avelino) to have a source of income because their high-profile painter faather Don Lorenzo Marasigan (Leo Rialp) has not produced any painting for a long time.
